Drop N Aces Tournament Rules
(Based upon the Tournament Directors Association Rules)
By playing in a Drop N Aces tournament, you agree to adhere to rules and regulations of the Drop N Aces Poker League and you are agreeing that you are participating in this event for entertainment purposes only and you understand that gambling on these premises is strictly prohibited.
This is a free league to play and you must be 18 or older to play. Some establishments require players to be 21 to play in an event. If a player is under the age of 21, they will only be eligible to compete for the annual Drop N Aces cash prize, not the WSOP seat prize.
Drop N Aces and the venue are not responsible for injuries or losses arising or resulting from participation in the event and is not liable for any acts or omissions by employees, whether negligent or willful, in the conduct of the League and is not liable in the event of equipment or software malfunction. This includes, but is not limited to, any loss of tournaments chips players leave at playing tables during tournament play.
1) Tournament Directors (TD) responsibility is to consider the best interest of the game and fairness as the top priority in the decision-making process. Unusual circumstances can, on occasion, dictate that the technical interpretation of the rules be ignored in the interest of fairness. The TD decision is final.
2) Side pots & Odd Chips: Each side pot will be split as a separate pot. They will not be mixed together before they are split. In certain circumstances there may be un-balanced chip amounts, in regards to split pots. If this occurs, the player (in the hand) that was left of the dealer will receive the un-even amount.
3) Calling for the clock procedures: Once a reasonable amount of time has passed and a clock is called for, a player will be given one minute to make a decision. If action has not been taken by the time the minute is over, there will be a 10-second countdown. If a player has not acted on their hand by the time the countdown is over, the hand will be dead.
4) Dead Button: Tournament play will use a dead button.
5) Penalties: A penalty MAY be invoked if a player exposes any card with action pending, if a card(s) goes off the table, if soft-play occurs, or similar incidents take place. Penalties WILL be invoked in cases of abuse, disruptive behavior, or similar incidents.
6) A player must be at the table by the time all players have complete hands in order to have their hand live. Players must be at the table to call time. In flop games, the big blind's hand will be dead if he is not there to act on it before the flop.
7) All cards will be turned face up once a player is all in and all action is complete.
8) If a player puts in a raise of 50 percent or more of the previous bet, he will be required to make a full raise. The raise will be exactly the minimum raise allowed. An oversized chip pre flop is a call; post flop, an oversized chip by the initial bettor put in the pot will constitute the size of the bet. If a player states raise and throws in an oversized chip, the raise will be the maximum amount allowable up to the size of that chip.
9) The one-player-to-a-hand rule will be enforced.
10) The English-only rule will be enforced in the United States during the play of hands.
11) A player who wants to use a cellular phone, whether talking or texting, must step away from the table.
12) When time has elapsed in a round and a new round is announced or displayed, the new limits apply to the next hand. A hand has begun with the first riffle (shuffling).
13) Verbal declarations as to the content of a player's hand are not binding; however at management's discretion, any player deliberately miscalling his hand may be penalized.
14) No rabbit hunting is allowed (running out the play after the hand is concluded). The dealer may be penalized for this action.
15) A player who intentionally dodges his blind(s) when moving from a broken table will forfeit the blind(s) and/or incur a penalty. The money will be put into the next pot and will be considered dead money.
16) All chips must be visibly displayed at all times. Highest denomination chips must be visible at all times. Players may not have tournament chips in their pockets at any time. A player who has chips in their pocket or taken off the table will forfeit the chips. The forfeited chips will be taken out of play from the tournament.
17) If a dealer kills an unprotected hand, the player will have no redress and will not be entitled to his money back. An exception would be if a player raised and his raise had not been called yet, he would be entitled to receive his raise back.
18) Dealers cannot kill a winning hand that was turned face up and was obviously the winning hand. The cards speak for themselves; if a player does not see his winning hand, he may still win the hand if the winning hand is identified by anyone.
19) Verbal declarations in turn are binding. Action out of turn may be binding.
20) Management reserves the right to cancel or alter any event at its sole discretion in the best interest of the league or its players.
21) Players going from a broken table to fill in seats assume the rights and responsibilities of the position. They can get the big blind, the small blind, or the button. The only place they cannot get a hand is between the small blind and the button. A player moved to balance tables will take the worst position. A dead button situation may occur.
22) Penalties available for use by the TD are verbal warnings, 5 to 10 minutes away from the table and may be used with discretion. These may be utilized up to and including disqualification. A player who is disqualified shall have their chips removed from play.
23) Players are obligated to protect the other players in the tournament at all times. Discussing cards discarded or a hand possibility is not allowed. Once a player has been knocked out of a tournament, they must step away from all tables that are still in play. Players knocked out of a tournament are not to discuss hands, calls, or decisions made by players that are still in the tournament.
24) A player who exposes his cards during the play may incur a penalty, but will not have his hand killed. However, in heads-up play a penalty will not occur.
25) In tournament play, when raising a player must either put the amount of the raise out in one motion or state the raise amount. By stating the word raise, a player protects his right to raise, but the raise must be made in one additional motion unless he states the amount. On tables not marked with a line, rule of distance applies to the motion.
26) Verbally disclosing the contents of your hand or advising a player how to play a hand may result in a penalty.
27) When arriving late to play in a tournament, (even if you are pre-registered), the starting chip count will be deducted by 10 times the then current big blind amount. No one will be allowed to join a tournament after the first hand has been dealt following the first hour of play.
28) Tournament players will treat one another with respect at all times. If fighting occurs of any kind, physical or verbal, players can have their chips pulled from the tournament, banned for a specified time period or banned from the league. If you are banned from the league, your accumulated points, i.e. earned playing points and knockout points, will be deleted. If a player is banned from the league by the TD, the player may appeal the TD's decision to the league owner in writing. The league owners decision is final.
29) At no time will any player have any cash on the tables. If this occurs, the player will be given one warning only, the second time for the offense will result in an ejection from the tournament.
30) If a card is exposed on the big or small blind player hand, it is a mis-deal and all cards are reshuffled and dealt again. If a card is exposed on any players hand other than the small or big blind, the cards will continue to be dealt and that player will receive the next card following the last card dealt to the last player receiving cards. The exposed card will become the first burn card and will be exposed to all players. If two or more cards are exposed, then the hand is a mis-deal and must be reshuffled and dealt again. If a card is exposed before all player action is completed, then that card must be placed back into the deck and reshuffled 3 times, at which time betting will be completed.
31) Dealers are in control of the table, i.e. no other players shall have their hands in the pot, nor shall any player touch or look at cards in the muck pile. However, if the dealer requests help they shall designate one person from the table to assist or call the TD.
32) Dealer selection: Each player at the table will draw a card from the deck. The highest card by suit (spade, heart, diamond, club) will win the deal. When combining to the final two tables, the table will re-high card for dealer. When combining to the final table, players will again re-high card for deal.
33) Deck changes will be on the dealer push or blind changes or as prescribed by the house. Players may not ask for deck changes.
34) If a player intends to purchase a meal and receive bonus chips, he must announce the intent before the first card is dealt when he joins the table. That player is playing behind and is obligated to make the meal purchase. Meals must be purchased before the end of the first color up break.
35) All players are responsible for their food and bar tabs. If a player walks out of any Drop N Aces location without paying their tab, that player will not be able to play poker at any Drop N Aces locations or special events until their tab has been paid.
36) There is to be NO outside cash betting on any Drop N Aces free poker games. Examples are last long bets and prop betting. Per Texas state law, all cash gambling in a public establishment is illegal. Drop N Aces staff reserves the right to remove any person(s) who are engaging in this action. If caught at any Drop N Aces event players will be banned from the league indefinitely.
37) if a chip is missed during color-up, that chip will be removed from play and the player will not receive any additional color-up chips.
38) THERE IS NO CRYING IN FREE POKER! Especially no crying about the way a DONKEY played! Perhaps if you look in the mirror, you may see a DONKEY looking back!
