Driving back to my duty station 8 hrs away, I had lots of time to think about the week’s events. It was a mix of good and bad. One of the hardest things I had to deal with was the passing of my friend Wendy Lantz. However, during my down time, I had some fun when I went to a couple of league locations and played. It was great visiting with all of my friends at the events and meeting some of the new players of the league.
On the drive, I was listening to one of my CD’s and the song was “Spank” by Kenny Wayne Sheppard and Kid Rock. The first lyric in this song brought a memory right to the surface from Thursday night’s play at Trail Dust. The hand was with a guy who I have played with several times in the league and at some home games. He has become predictable to me in his play. We will call this person Micah, So here is the lyric.

Now the reason this brings up the memory is that Micah overplayed his hand by playing out of position with a big raise. I looked down at a J 9 off suit. I am second from the dealer so I could play or just fold. But folding would be no fun! I called the big raise waited for the flop.

The flop comes and I hit a gut shot straight and I hear a big, big beat coming. Ok, knowing the player like I do, I knew he hit nothing and I only had a four outer. I Call!
Some do, wanna prove. That their are really just a chosen few. So test your fate. Speculate, that it could really never happen to you. I've been high. At least tried. I learned to sleep with an open eye. You crossed that line better take the time. TO KISS YOUR ASS GOODBYE!
